Residents across London were told to stay alert and avoid contact with a man police say presents a danger to himself and others. The Metropolitan Police launched a citywide hunt for Anthony Lloyd after he forced his way out of a health unit in Lewisham.

Lloyd, 38, exited the facility shortly after 4:00 pm on Friday. Witnesses last saw him moving toward Catford at 4:10 pm. He is described as white, five feet eight inches tall, and of medium build with short dark hair. At the time of his escape, he wore a grey-blue T-shirt, black tracksuit bottoms, and white trainers.

Detective Superintendent Melanie Pressley, who is leading the operation, confirmed that officers are conducting multiple inquiries to locate the fugitive. She emphasized the urgency of the situation, noting that Lloyd poses a risk to the public. Pressley instructed anyone who spots him to call 999 immediately rather than trying to approach or detain him.

Lloyd was convicted in 2025 of actual bodily harm connected to an incident in Nottinghamshire involving three emergency services workers. He received a 12-month prison sentence and was transferred to the Lewisham medical facility in September. The Metropolitan Police believe he could be anywhere in the capital.

Police have also identified specific links to other regions, including Surrey, Sussex, Thames Valley, Hampshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, and Merseyside. These connections suggest the search may extend beyond immediate London boundaries as detectives pursue leads in those areas.

The public has been asked to quote reference CAD4739/23Oct when contacting authorities. Pressley appealed for any information, no matter how small, to be reported to police as a matter of urgency to help narrow the search area.
