Arsenal pulled level with Manchester City at the top of the Premier League on Saturday, winning 2-0 at home against Everton hours after City suffered their first loss of the season.

Ezri Konsa put Arsenal ahead in the seventh minute at the Emirates Stadium, bundling the ball in from close range after Jordan Pickford blocked Martin Odegaard's corner. Ben White, making his 200th appearance for Arsenal, crossed for Gabriel to head the second goal in the 68th minute, his 200th Premier League game. The match was played in heavy rain. Arsenal have not scored from a set piece since May, ending a 13-game run across all competitions.

At Villa Park, Nicolas Jackson scored twice for Aston Villa in a 2-1 win over Manchester City. Jackson opened the scoring in the sixth minute after John McGinn intercepted Marc Guehi's touch. Erling Haaland headed in an Iliman Ndiaye free kick early in the second half to equalize before Jackson struck again on the hour mark, finishing Ibrahim Mbaye's cutback under Gianluigi Donnarumma. The result gave Villa their first home league win of the season and a third straight league victory over City.

Villa moved to sixth place with 11 points. Arsenal and City both sit on 21 points after eight games. City are awaiting an appeal after an independent commission found the club committed 114 breaches of Premier League financial rules; City have denied wrongdoing. "It's just the beginning; we're trying to work game by game," Jackson told TNT Sports.

Tottenham Hotspur beat Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge, their second league win at that ground in 36 years. Chelsea goalkeeper Mike Penders, making his first league start, punched a corner into his own net in the 77th minute. Cole Palmer received a second yellow card in the 80th minute, and Mathys Tel scored in the 87th. Tottenham rose to 12th, Chelsea remained fourth.

Fulham defeated Coventry City 1-0 on an 80th-minute goal from Oscar Bobb. Fulham are 13th; Coventry sit 19th.
