The Averett University community is reeling from the devastating news of the passing of esteemed Professor Dr. David Hanbury. The respected academic was found deceased on Sunday, following his reported disappearance during a conference in Orlando.

Dr. Hanbury, an integral part of Averett University since August 2015, held the positions of associate professor and co-chair of the psychology department. Additionally, he served as the chair for the division of physical and psychological health sciences, demonstrating his dedication to both his field of study and the university community.

The events leading to Dr. Hanbury’s tragic demise began with his attendance at the Southeastern Psychological Association Conference in Orlando. He was last seen on the evening of March 15, sparking concern among colleagues and loved ones when he failed to return. His absence prompted an intensive search effort, which unfortunately concluded with the heartbreaking discovery of his passing on Sunday.
