A cold front crosses Colorado on Friday, Oct. 23, marking the end of a warm spell in the Pueblo region. The weather pattern drives weekend highs into the 50s after a peak temperature of 80 degrees on Friday. This shift brings increased rain chances and cooler conditions to the area.
Morning temperatures in Pueblo are forecast in the 50s. Clouds will break to allow sunshine, leading to afternoon warming. Along Interstate 25, clear skies are expected to emerge around 10 a.m. as morning clouds disperse. The advancing front may trigger thunderstorms farther east and along the southern portion of the interstate.
Precipitation risks remain low on Friday for most of the region. Pueblo’s south side faces a 10% to 20% chance of rain. Canon City has a 20% to 30% chance of afternoon showers, though most locations will likely stay dry. Woodland Park, Monument, and the Tri-Lakes area are also expected to see rain chances arrive over the weekend.
Temperatures will decline as the front moves through Friday into Saturday morning. Saturday’s high in Pueblo will only reach the 50s. Colorado Springs is forecast to have a high of 73 and a low of 47 on Friday. Further south, Walsenburg and Trinidad will reach highs of 73 and 74, respectively, before dropping to the 50s by the weekend.
The eastern plains may see thunderstorms return by Friday evening. Afternoon temperatures in that area will range from the 70s to the 80s. Mountain areas are forecast to have highs in the 60s and lows in the 30s. Lingering moisture continues to affect southwestern Colorado, where water levels may take time to recede.
Weather conditions are expected to calm down next week. Forecasts call for sunshine, partly cloudy skies, and temperatures gradually warming into the 60s. The preliminary outlook for Halloween predicts dry weather and temperatures in the 50s and 60s, though that forecast remains subject to change.
